Mr. Leoni and Mr. Shelsby represented a 36-year-old woman who suffered a metastasis of endometrial cancer, which would not have occurred if her gynecologist had properly followed up on a biopsy that showed pre-cancer cells were present. The doctor failed to perform more complete testing and more biopsies. The woman had to go through chemotherapy and radiation treatments, as well as an increase in the risk for a recurrence of cancer. After a 2 week trial in December 2012, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the woman and her husband for just over $1 million.
